Pal itself remains a tiny hamlet hidden away in a picturesque valley notable for its authenticity and the Romanesque architecture at the church of ‘Sant Climent’. Dating back to the 11th century the proud bell tower stands tall while the altar is sculpted from the local mountain rock.
Arinsal on the other hand has embraced ski tourism and is now a favoured destination amongst British skiers and snowboarders, lured to Arinsal by the cheap prices, compact ski area favourable for learning, the well run local ski school and buzzing nightlife.
Pal-Arinsal has recently linked up with Ordino-Arcalis to form the mountain park of Vallnord. A single lift pass now covers the Pal, Arinsal and Arcalis sectors to boast a fine mix of ski, snowboard and freestyle slopes. Alternative activities such as mushing, paragliding, helicopter flights, snow shoeing and snow mobiles abound adding to the mountain park feel, rather than just a ski area making this an excellent family choice.
In summer the Pal-Arinsal sector of the Vallnord mountain park offers an array of activities including 4x4 trails, quad bikes, cross country and downhill mountain bike circuits as well as horse riding, cementing its reputation as a true all year round outdoor activity centre.
