The highly fashionable ski resort of Baqueira-Beret, high in the Val d’Aran has developed into a truly world class resort. It has long been a favourite of the Spanish royal family and consistently raises the benchmarks in terms of snow quality and customer service. Baqueira has built on its impressive ski record of abundant and consistent snow. It is well known for its expertly maintained slopes and with snow canon coverage to rival any resort you always wake up to a new layer of fresh powder in the morning.
The ski lift system is state of the art and is serviced by noticeably friendly and helpful staff taking you quickly and efficiently around the network of 70 varied and challenging pistes over an area of 115km. With such superb facilities you may expect the costs to be proportionate. Certainly, lift prices are above the Pyrenean average but remain excellent value and more than compensated for by the reasonable Spanish prices for food and drink.
So have you always fancied heli-skiing but never been able to do it? Well Baqueira is the place. Yes, it is legal in Spain and incredible value. For about 70€ you get not one, but two glorious off piste descents.
Baqueira is certainly blessed with some great terrain and the whole area is perfect for expansion. Judging by the success that Baqueira has enjoyed so far it is likely that this resort will continue to grow and set the standards for others to follow.
As a summer destination Baqueira also has a lot to offer. Hiking, mountain-biking, canyoning, climbing and rafting are all available to ensure an action packed adventure sports break. With plenty of outdoor activities and games for the children a fun holiday is ensured for the whole family.
