Formigučres, in the heart of Catalan Pyrenees is nestled in the Capcir area of the Pyrenees Orientales, close to Spain and the Mediterranean Sea. Situated at 1500 metres altitude in the heart of a protected forest it benefits from exceptional air quality and long periods of sunshine.

It has managed to maintain its typical mountain village feel although it boasts a rich past, having previously been the chosen summer residence for the kings of Majorca. This rich heritage can be seen at the 12th century church with its impressive bell tower and interesting facade.

Straddled by the two broad glaciated valleys of Contour and Lladure there are numerous excursions possible either on foot, mountain bike or on horseback. The Pérics peaks look stunning when reflected in any of the multitude of nearby lakes and the area is rich in fauna and flora offering up a variety of wildlife from little marmots to golden eagles.

In winter, there are 19 tree lined downhill pistes through splendid pine forests suitable for beginners and intermediates alike rising from 1500 metres at its base to a peak of 2400 metres. This is also an excellent cross country ski destination boasting 110km of tracks on the Capcir plateau and plenty of snow shoe excursions to enjoy.
